Digital photography is a vast subject that involves many things like snapping photographs, editing photos, printing your pictures out etc. However before you can do any of this, you must start it all off at step one...Choosing your digital camera. This does not have to be as complicated and as tough as it is made out to be.
Obviously you are going to want to start by looking at a camera that catches your eye. When a camera has caught your attention you want to read up on it and check out the reviews, both manufacturer and user reviews as well (because the manufacturer will not tell you any downsides to the camera).
It also does not hurt if you just go look for the top rated cameras. With competition in digital camera's being so high, camera companies are constantly trying to "one-up" each other. The result? A lot of the cameras have a lot of features and are great quality cameras. In the point and shoot category of digital cameras, the competition has made it so almost any camera you buy will suit your needs just perfectly. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, and Casio are pretty much the leaders in point and shoot digital photography, and between those 5 brands there is absolutely no reason to not find a camera that will suit your needs. Each brand will try and offer different things that will appeal to the customer. Sony's vibrant unique colors, Canon's cool features, Nikon's stand still lens, Panasonic's Leica lenses, and Casio's extremely slim camera.
The more money you want to put in to your camera, the more research you should be doing on it. In the high end range there are some bigger differences, as some of the companies (mainly speaking of Nikon and Canon) do go out of their way to leave their competition in the dust. Be sure that you are checking all the specifications of the digital camera and that you are not just really impressed by the amount of megapixels. Unless you are blowing your prints into posters you will not be able to tell a 6 megapixel camera from a 10 as far as picture quality goes.
When you think you have chosen the digital camera right for you, make sure that it is exactly that...RIGHT FOR YOU! You should be so comfortable with your camera that you were to think that you have been using it for years. Comfort of the digital camera you are using is the key to beautiful spot on shots.
